Spiced Irish Coffee
The weather is getting cold and it is time for a hot cocktail. I wanted to start with a contemporary classic, Irish Coffee. It is simply a combination of hot coffee, Irish Whiskey and sugar stirred and then topped with cream in an Irish coffee mug. It was created by Joe Sheridan in 1940s to cheer up the delayed, cold and weary passengers and became an airport specialty. I wanted to spice up the original recipe a little bit by adding amaro and using spiced cream (cinnamon, allspice, clove, star anise). I skipped the sugar since the amaro and the cream has enough to achieve the balance. #drinkstagram, what is your favorite hot cocktail for cold days?
