Tolgahan Ulutaş

A floral cocktail with an interesting touch of sour cherries

Budapest

Tolgahan Ulutaş shared this recipe of his with me while we were talking about the problems of the supply of creme de violette in Turkey. I had all the ingredients at hand, so I immediately gave it a try. As you can understand from the ingredients, it is a cocktail that has floral notes and sour cherry is also a good match to these notes. And when you talk about elderflower and violette, using gin as the base became somehow inevitable. Here is the recipe;

Ingredients

  • 50 ml London Dry Gin
  • 15 ml Elderflower liqueur
  • 15 ml Creme de violette
  • 15 ml Lime juice
  • 15 ml Sweet and sour mix
  • 2 Sour cherries

Instructions

  • Muddle sour cherries in your shaker and add the rest of the ingredients. Shake with ice if you are using premade s&s mix (check below for the recipe) or dry shake and wet shake if you are using egg white directly in your cocktail. Double strain into an ice-filled glass and garnish with a dried orange wheel.⁣
    Cheers! 🍹
