Emrah, a.k.a Lelabbo

Hello, I’m Emrah Deniz Kunt. I am the one who manages lelabbo account at Instagram, makes all the cocktails, takes photos and drinks afterwards.

I guess the first adjective I would use to introduce myself on this page, which is dedicated to cocktails, would be a “cocktail enthusiast”, but I think that is well understood by everyone. 🙂 On the unknown side, I am a father of 2 kids and a mechatronics engineer with PhD. After I finished my undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees at Sabancı University, I worked in the robotics industry for a while as an R&D consultant and R&D director. I was totally focused on my technology venture in the software industry between the years 2013-2020. Finally, I was the director of a technology center, after which I decided to take a break from my technology development career in Turkey. This break, which started last year, allowed me to focus more on the cocktail world.

My passion for cocktails actually dates back to the year 2000. If there are any of you who remember those days, you may imagine the mixes we had back then. 🙂 Over time, I reached the status; “the cocktail guy” who was always asked to make cocktails among friends. 🤘 In 2018, with the growth of the family, it became a little bit difficult to try cocktails outside like before so I started to try different recipes and enjoy them at home. Afterwards, I decided to put them on Instagram to keep them as a cocktail booklet, and that’s how it all started. Cocktail recipe requests started to arise out of the house, increased day by day, and finally here we are.

I’m glad that it happened. 🥂

It was almost unpredictable for a page, that was opened so randomly, to continue for so long and reach this interaction. On the other hand, it was not as easy as it seems. Time spent constantly trying to create a new recipe, regular stock of the necessary ingredients, expenses that you make, preparations that start in the evening after a busy working day followed by putting kids asleep, shooting process that does not always go the way you want, and on top of that, the mess at the kitchen that needs to be handled late at night. All these can be quite difficult for a hobby that is added to a routine, hectic life. But in the end, if it’s something you enjoy, you can keep it for a long time.

I hope that together we will have the chance to achieve much more beautiful things that we could not foresee. In the meantime, we hope to raise our glasses together somewhere!
