Chocolate and cherry bitters touch to the Godfather recipe

Yes, there is a day for it. April 19th is celebrated as the National Amaretto Day in the U.S. The name amaretto is derived from the Italian word “amaro” meaning “bitter”. The addition of the suffix “etto” adds “little” to the meaning. Apart from the meaning of it, Amaretto is a sweet Italian liqueur made from bitter almonds and/or apricot kernels. The most favorite cocktails with Amaretto are amaretto sour and the Godfather. Since I haven’t shared Godfather before, I wanted to make it for the day. The ratio of Scotch to Amaretto differs in different sources but I prefer using 3:1 since it becomes so sweet for me if used more. I also used chocolate and cherry bitters to a little bit depth of flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 60 ml Scotch Whisky
  • 20 ml Amaretto
  • 2 dashes Chocolate bitters
  • 1 dash Cherry bitters

Instructions
 

  • Stir all ingredients over ice in a mixing glass or tin. Strain into your whisky glass over a large clear ice cube. Express the oil of an orange peel and drop it in.
