Sazerac
The Sazerac is a classic cocktail that originated in New Orleans in the 19th century. Over time, different variations were made and accepted in different periods. Therefore, it is possible to come across different recipes in different sources. This recipe is a version made with rye whiskey as the base drink, in which the rye whiskey lends its spicy characteristics to the drink. I prefer spraying the absinthe in the glass, but you may also rinse the glass if you want. Do not forget to chill the glass since Sazerac is mainly served without ice.
Ingredients
- 60 ml Rye Whiskey
- 7.5 ml Simple Syrup
- 2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
- Absinthe (to rinse the glass)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir until well-chilled. Rinse your chilled glass with spray of Absinthe. Strain the mix into your glass and express the oil of a lemon peel over the glass. You may drop it in or garnish with another lemon peel.Cheers! 🥃
