Two different forms of bergamot; oleo saccharum & sparkling wine

I love trying the same flavour combinations in different cocktails, sometimes simply by changing the base spirit and sometimes using the ingredients in different forms. If you have been following me for a while now, then I think you are already familiar with this mix. This time I used bergamot in two different forms; oleo saccharum and homemade bergamot sparkling wine. Basil is a good pairing with bergamot which I generally use and cucumber adds more freshness.

Ingredients
  

  • 45 ml Hendrick’s gin
  • 20 ml Lemon juice
  • 15 ml Bergamot oleo saccharum
  • 3 slices of Cucumber
  • 3-4 leaves of Basil
  • Homemade bergamot sparkling wine ( Champagne/Prosecco/Sparkling wine⁣)

Instructions
 

  • Muddle cucumbers and basil in your shaker. Add the rest of the ingredients, except the sparkling one, and shake with ice until well-chilled. Double strain into an ice-filled glass and top with sparkling wine/prosecco or champagne. Garnish with a slice of cucumber and basil leaves.
