The Botanist – Islay Dry Gin

GIN

Contains 31 different botanicals, 22 of which are sourced from the Isle of Islay

The Botanist gin is produced by the Bruichladdich distillery on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. You might know this distillery for their Bruichladdich, Octomore, and Port Charlotte whiskies. The Botanist contains 31 different botanicals, 22 of which are hand-foraged on the Isle of Islay each year.

The custom-designed pot still named “Ugly Betty” used in production is tailored specifically for The Botanist gin to ensure the optimal transfer of the botanical flavors to the final product. To be more precise, an old Lomond still was modified and used. The name “Ugly Betty” refers to the not-so-visually appealing appearance of the still.

It’s one of my favorite gins as well. It boasts a highly complex and flavorful taste profile. Thanks to this characteristic, it can be used in cocktails and can also be enjoyed neat.

The embossed writings on the bottle indicate the Latin names of the 22 botanicals in its content.
