A whiskey sour twist with kumquat, blood orange and a hint of vanilla

Antosiyanin

The type of whiskey used when making a whiskey sour or a whiskey sour twist is very important. Bourbon whiskey is generally used for the sour treatment because of its naturally sweet taste. Woodford Reserve Bourbon is a very easy-drinking bourbon with a rich aroma profile. It was 2017, when I was first introduced to Woodford Reserve in Berlin. The bartender at the bar “Le Labo”, where I drink whiskey sour all the time, brought me a bottle one evening which then became one of my favorites. In this mix, kumquat cordial and blood orange juice create a very nice texture, so I prefer to use foamer instead of egg white.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Bourbon Woodford Reserve
  • 20 ml Lemon Juice
  • 30 ml Kumquat Cordial
  • 30 ml Blood Orange Juice
  • 7.5 ml Vanilla Syrup
  • 4-5 drops Foamer

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients into your shaker and shake well with ice. Double strain into your ice-filled glass and garnish with a blood orange slice.
    Cheers! 🥃
