Cocktail Workshops: Cocktail Making & Creation
Most of you know that I have been organizing cocktail workshops since 2020. These workshops can be individual participation-based workshops, as well as corporate workshops. Despite having different concepts, the workshops I have conducted so far generally include the necessary information for an introduction to the basics of cocktail making, which we can actually label as “Cocktail 101.” Rather than directly providing only recipes in the workshops, if we have no strict time limitation, I start with a slightly longer technical explanation. This can occasionally be a bit challenging for participants who are eagerly looking forward to enjoying cocktails. 🙂 However, I believe that this explanation is necessary for the repeatability of the cocktail-making process after the workshop. When we look at all the feedback after the workshops, this belief is often confirmed.
In line with this content, the title of my cocktail workshops is “Cocktail Making and Creation” In summary, the content is as follows:
- Necessary equipment for making cocktails
- Cocktail making techniques and details
- Cocktail components (base spirit, acid, sweetener, bitter, ice, etc.)
- Flavor pairing
- Glassware
- Types of spirits, their details, and the cocktails (used in the workshop)
After discussing these details interactively, we proceed to make 2 or 3 cocktails together, depending on the workshop’s content. This way, we also reinforce the aforementioned techniques while making the cocktails.
The primary goal of these workshops, in the initial stages, is to foster the awareness and increase the knowledge of creating good cocktails. This is achieved by learning cocktail preparation, flavor balance, flavor pairings, ingredients, and their correct usage. This helps establish or enhance an understanding of what makes a good cocktail versus a bad one, thus contributing to the development of both a consuming and eventually a producing aspect of the drink and cocktail culture. Consequently, it creates an environment where we can create enjoyable and tasteful cocktails.
Hoping to meet in one of the cocktail workshops 🥂
Remember, life is undoubtedly better with good cocktails.
