Allspice Syrup
Before using some spices, it might be better to slightly pestle and roast the spices to achieve a more efficient flavor profile. Allspice is one of those.
Equipment
- 1 Mortar and Pestle
- 1 Frying Pan
- 1 Sauce Pan
- 1 Measuring Cup
Ingredients
- 100 ml Water
- 100 gr Sugar
- 20 gr Allspice Berries
Instructions
- Gently crush the allspice berries in a mortar and pestle. (Do not grind them into powder.) Then, roast them in a pan for a short period. (until their aroma begins to emerge). In a saucepan, mix the sugar with water and heat and mix until the sugar is dissolved. Add the crushed allspice berries. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it cool. After it has cooled down, strain the mixture and bottle it.
